What to look for when choosing the ideal camp for each child

Choosing a summer camp is not just picking a place: it's about finding an environment where each child can enjoy themselves, feel safe and live an experience that truly fits their personality. That’s why, rather than focusing only on the list of activities, it’s essential to first think about each child's personality, interests and needs.

Every child is different, and what may be an unforgettable adventure for one could feel overwhelming or unmotivating for another. The key is to look for a camp that adapts to the child, not the other way around.

If your child is adventurous and especially enjoys nature, the outdoors and exploration activities, they will probably be happier in a camp focused on nature, adventure and outdoor living, rather than one centered on court sports or more structured activities.

If, on the other hand, your child is creative and loves art, drawing or building things with their hands, it’s advisable to choose a camp that includes artistic workshops, hands-on projects or spaces that encourage personal expression.

It’s also important to consider how a child handles their first experiences away from home. If it’s their first time and they are especially sensitive, choosing a camp with closer attention and more individual support can make a big difference in helping them feel accompanied and safe. If, however, they are very independent, social and adaptable, they will likely enjoy almost any environment that motivates them.

In short, there isn’t a perfect camp for everyone,  there is an ideal camp for each child. Listening to them, observing what excites them and understanding their rhythms will help ensure the choice is the right one and that the experience is truly enriching for them.
