Summer Camps in Toledo and Gredos: August Plans Your Kids Will Remember Forever

August is just around the corner and you still have no plan for your kids. Relax, you are not alone. Many families reach this point without having booked anything, feeling like it is too late to find a good summer camp in Toledo or Gredos. The good news is that LayosCamp still has spots available in August, both at our Toledo site and in the Sierra de Gredos. And these are not filler spots: August at LayosCamp delivers the same quality, the same team and the same energy as July. We have been doing it this way since 1985.

Why August is a perfect time for camp

Some people think the best camp sessions are in July, but August has its own advantages. Children arrive more rested after a few weeks of family holidays, the weather is ideal for water and outdoor activities, and groups tend to be slightly smaller, which means even more personalised attention.

Besides, for many kids August is when boredom starts creeping in at home. They have exhausted the usual city activities, plans with neighbourhood friends start repeating themselves and screens become the default refuge. A camp in August is the perfect antidote: it restores their energy, excitement and connection with nature right before the new school year begins.

Two destinations, one philosophy

What makes LayosCamp special is that whether you choose Toledo or Gredos, the experience shares the same essence: safety, nature, sport, personal growth and a team that knows every child by name. The difference lies in the setting and the nuances of each programme. And that is precisely what allows you to pick the one that best suits your child.

LayosCamp Toledo: multi-adventure close to Madrid

Our camp in Layos is located in the province of Toledo, just over an hour from Madrid, with return transport from the capital included. It is our most complete camp in terms of activity variety and age-specific options.

For children aged 6 to 12, the multi-adventure programme includes six different activities every day, complemented by countryside outings and evening entertainment. From team sports to creative workshops, plus the famous Camp Olympics complete with opening ceremony, closing ceremony and medal awards.

For teenagers aged 13 to 16, LayosCamp Toledo Junior goes a step further: alongside multi-adventure activities, it incorporates leadership and teamwork dynamics that help teens develop social and management skills. It is an experience designed so that older campers feel challenged and motivated.

And if your child has a particular passion, Toledo offers optional extra activities: eight hours of horse riding, golf, tennis or padel, and eight hours of English or Spanish classes. A great way to make the most of summer by combining fun and learning.

Available session in August: 1 to 15 August.

LayosCamp Gredos: nature at its purest

If you want your child to be fully immersed in nature, Gredos is the place. Our camp in the Sierra de Gredos is surrounded by mountains, rivers and forests that turn every day into an adventure. It is the ideal destination for children who enjoy exploring, hiking and discovering the natural world.

The Gredos programme is designed for children aged 6 to 12 and combines multi-adventure activities with the unique environment the sierra offers: mountain routes, river activities, outdoor games and everything that turns a camp into an intensive nature experience. We also offer extras such as horse riding and English or Spanish classes.

What sets Gredos apart is the total immersion in a natural environment that city kids rarely experience. There is no tarmac, no traffic noise, no shopping centres. Just mountains, fresh air and the chance for your child to discover they are capable of much more than they thought.

Available session in August: 16 to 30 August.

What every family wants to know

A dedicated team that makes the difference

At LayosCamp we do not hire monitors from agencies. Our team goes through in-house training and many of them return season after season. This means returning campers find familiar faces, and first-timers feel supported by people who know what they are doing and love what they do. We are a family business, with members of the founding family present at every camp, and it shows.

Uniform and daily laundry

All campers wear a uniform during activities: three t-shirts, three pairs of trousers, three pairs of socks and a sweatshirt. It is ordered at registration and handed out on the first day. We accept uniforms from previous editions. And with the daily laundry service, your child's suitcase can be much lighter than you might imagine.

Carefully prepared meals

Healthy, balanced menus made with top-quality ingredients, designed specifically for children. Campers eat with their cabin monitor. If your child has allergies, intolerances or follows a special diet, simply let us know at registration and we take care of it.

Safety and medical care

Both camps are less than five minutes from a medical centre and fifteen from a hospital. We have a qualified lifeguard and a nurse on site. All children are covered by accident insurance, and for those coming from abroad we provide a compulsory travel insurance policy.

Communication with families

From the third full day onwards, you can speak with your children by phone during the designated hours. They may also use their own mobile during the same time slot. The rest of the time, phones are kept away so they can enjoy the experience without distractions.

Transport from Madrid included

For both Toledo and Gredos, return transport from Madrid is included. Children always travel accompanied by monitors. For international families, we offer an airport or station pick-up and drop-off service.

Toledo or Gredos? How to choose

The decision depends on your child's profile and what you are looking for as a family. If your child is between 6 and 12 and you want a very complete multi-adventure programme with options like horse riding, golf or padel, Toledo is a great choice. If they are between 13 and 16, Toledo Junior is the only option with a programme specifically designed for teenagers.

If what appeals most is pure nature, mountains and a wilder setting, Gredos will be a hit. Plus, the sessions fit together perfectly for combining both: your child can go to Toledo in the first half of August and Gredos in the second, or the other way around. Many families do this every summer and the kids love discovering two different destinations.
